LIMS and the Smart Lab of the Future

Even in 2020, every laboratory will initially still be one thing: a real individual case! In contrast to many other industries, laboratories cannot use standardized software solutions for efficient data management - too specialized are the amounts of information that need to be generated, managed and interpreted in laboratories on a daily basis.

Laboratory Information and Management Systems (LIMS) have been in use for more than 30 years. Since the 1980s, LIMS have been used to integrate laboratory processes into cross-functional IT structures, to optimize processes and - ideally - to make effective use of resources. Classical LIMS, however, are reaching their limits more and more because they often leave an important point out of the equation: The employees in the laboratory. Ever larger amounts of information need to be processed - and with the highest possible efficiency.

Scalable, user-oriented and "smart" software solutions are needed to ensure that information processing at the "human interface" will continue to be successful in the future. Modular system structures with individually adjustable user interfaces, digital networking of individual components to form a powerful overall network and process-controlled filters that filter out the relevant data from the amount of data - that is what the Smart Lab of the future stands for.

Would you like to learn more about the fascinating possibilities that modern LIMS can offer in combination with smart solutions in your laboratory? Then write to us or give us a call. We look forward to making your working environment "ready for 4.0"!
